Video to script, with a shot list and timecodes

You get a story summary and a shot-by-shot breakdown, not a formatted screenplay and not a verbatim transcript. From a video you own or are licensed to analyze, StoryTeardown drafts an episode story summary plus an editable, timecoded shot list with actions and dialogue you can export.

Transcript vs script-style breakdown

Transcription tool StoryTeardown breakdown
Spoken words Yes Draft dialogue in shot rows; check against the video
Who does what Usually not Character actions per episode
What the camera shows No Editable shot list with timecodes and audiovisual notes
Story-level notes No Story overview and six-dimension narrative analysis
Across episodes No Request a cross-episode summary after at least two episodes have complete, loaded analyses

If you only need captions or meeting notes, a dedicated transcription tool is the simpler choice. Use a script-style breakdown when you want to study how a scene or episode is built.

How it works

  1. Upload up to 5 MP4 or MOV files you own or are licensed to analyze, each up to 5 minutes and 500 MiB, encoded as H.264 with AAC audio or no audio track (current limits).
  2. Read the story overview, then check the shot list beside the video.
  3. Correct any row: names, dialogue, timestamps, shot notes.
  4. Export to DOCX for reading, CSV or JSON for spreadsheets and your own tools, or HTML, Markdown and TXT. Editing and exporting do not spend analysis credits; credit packs start from $9.99 (pricing).

FAQ

Does it write a full screenplay?

No. It drafts an episode story summary and a shot-by-shot breakdown. Export to DOCX or Markdown and rewrite it into your own screenplay format.

Is this the same as a transcript?

No. A transcript records spoken words. A script-style breakdown also records who acts, what the camera shows and when, so you can study how a scene is built.

What files can I upload?

MP4 or MOV, up to 5 minutes and 500 MiB per video, with up to 5 videos per batch. Video must be H.264, with AAC audio or no audio track. Only upload footage you own or are licensed to analyze.

Which export formats are available?

HTML, DOCX, Markdown, TXT, JSON and CSV. Editing and exporting do not spend analysis credits.

Is the output accurate?

AI rows are drafts. Check names, dialogue and timestamps against the video before you rely on them.

Do I need a subscription?

No. Credit packs are one-time purchases from $9.99 for 100 credits, and credits do not expire.
